The 306 S16 was the sporty variant of the compact 306.
Peugeot, like all its competition, had a racing variant of its compact, and this S16 version, mounted a 2.0L 16v and 167hp engine.
Its main rivals were the Opel Astra GSi 16v, the Volkswagen Golf GTi 16v, the Fiat Tipo 2.0i Seidicivalvole or the Citroen ZX 16v among others. This 1998 version is the facelift version that arrived in 1998 to give the French compact a facelift.
